The game takes place in a Victorian mansion in San Francisco that has been restored to its former glory by its Chinese-American owner, Rose Green. However, strange events begin to occur as Rose's renovations are being completed. Objects move by themselves, ghostly apparitions appear, and other mysterious occurrences take place. Nancy Drew is called upon to investigate the disturbances and put an end to them.
Nancy must navigate the mansion's many rooms, solve puzzles, piece together clues, and interact with a cast of characters who each have their own motivations and secrets. Along the way, she uncovers an old family curse and discovers the mansion's ties to San Francisco's Chinatown.
The game features hand-drawn graphics that depict the Victorian mansion's elegant interiors as well as San Francisco's cityscape. The soundtrack includes eerie sound effects and atmospheric music that help build suspense and add to the game's haunted feel.
